SUNDAY SAUCE - I am in love!

She has been with me all my life, though people have been telling me she isn't any good. Get rid of her they advise; she is not the passport to a good life. And there were times when I believed them when I was young. But, when I tried to extricate her from my being, I realised she would not leave. Through thick and thin she has been there for me, wrapping me, enclosing me, keeping me warm at nights.

I remember when we were away for a while, and the cold weather of Europe damaged her, creating a mosaic of cracks all over her. Oh, how she suffered, and yearned for the Caribbean sun. But we knew why we were there, and so we stayed until it was time to return.

I have never met anyone so faithful, so true, loving me for me. I have no choice than to love her back, and admire her beauty, especially when she glows and glistens after a long bath.

So, tomorrow, Valentine's Day, I will pamper her as always. However, she will get no chocolate, no fudge, no sweets, no cheesecake. They will make her podgy and lumpy. What she will certainly get though is a little more extra-virgin olive oil. For, you see, I'm in love with my black skin, for which every day is Valentine's Day.
