When you've worked hard, it's nice to feel pats on the back in recognition. And National Commercial Bank (NCB) gave its staff copious pats at its Pinnacle Awards held on Saturday, February 19 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel. Since 2002, the awards grew from the merger of several awards. The Pinnacle Awards recognise and reward the outstanding performance of NCB's team of sales and customer service officers, including direct sales agents, personal bankers and card services. This year, the awards were also merged with the equally prestigious Branch of the Year awards.

But the applause for work well done aside, there was also plenty of entertainment and it ranged from seasoned performers to up-and-coming talent. Aisha Davis entertained guests during the cocktail hour with her strong voice and funky repertoire, including originals Survivor and Say My Name. During dinner, it was the turn of Lloyd Parks and the We The People Band, their groovy offerings included Members Only and My Place. The band then backed up the timeless George Nooks who had guests eating out of his hands with renditions of Left With A Broken Heart and Lean On Me, among others. Young stars Ikaya and Sophia Squire did two pieces, each comprising their respective originals Hard Way and Right There.

The biggest applause though was reserved for the real stars of the evening: the staff. Special mention went to Direct Sales Agent of the Year Stevie Barnett (who also dominated the sectional prizes in that category) and Chapelton took the coveted Branch of the Year. Among the big winners were Japhia Langley, Sandra Josephs, Joycelyn Rowe, Merline Ferguson, Jean McGill, Glendawn Dixon, Joan Allen, Clover Young, Janet Reid, Claudia Khans, Arlene Williams, Asana Reid, Hopeton Robinson, Melissa Aarons, Kelly Ann McKenzie, Toni-Ann Cheverria, Patria Coke, Fitzroy Coleman, Shara Lindo-Cummings, Annett Spencer, Tanesha McCalla and Wayne Hunter.
