Digicel goes to the farm

Digicel had a farm, e-i, e-i-o! Okay, so it probably won't catch on as a nursery rhyme, but when you entered the telecoms giant's media farm party on July 9, the 'refix' of the children's classic may have come to mind. Cow hands and farm girls, both appropriately decked out in their plaid and denim (and don't forget the boots).
Guests were welcomed by the sight of haystacks (some serving as tables and chairs, real western movie style), wooden benches, and even a scarecrow! There were games aplenty - from the can toss to the hilarious mechanical bull riding. The grub was definitely Jamaican. Sweet potato, breadfruit, ackee and saltfish, mixed with juicy meats like roast pork and ribs were there to satisfy big appetites. That's what you get for working on the farm all day!
There was also a throwback vibe to the party, starting off with the witty Harmonisers Mento Band strumming away for early guests. During the action-packed entertainment segment, a real 'cowboy', Brushy One String, plucked his trusty guitar especially for the women. Then it was time for veteran DJ General Trees. Gone A Negril and Mini Bus, among other hits, soon had guests singing along as he threw in some funky dance moves for good measure. But the man who really drew the crowd to the stage was Frisco Kid. He had the farmland rocking with his hits from the 90s including Livin' In Style and Gal Pon Di Side. He exited to give DJ Jazzy T the chance to end the party on a groovy note.
