Dwight Thomas' dad killed

The father of national 110m hurdles record holder, Dwight Thomas, was killed at his home in St Catherine yesterday.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), 62-year-old Ashton Thomas was chopped and shot to death by unknown assailants who forced their way into his home in Glengoffe, St Catherine.

CCN said the men also attempted to steal his motor car, but fled when residents raised an alarm and alerted the police.

The Major Investigative Task Force is leading the investigation.
