SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland:

Street people in the town of Savanna-la-Mar were on Good Friday treated to a meal of bun, cheese, and drink by Patrick Miller, who was conducting the exercise for the second year.

Miller, a contract painter at a hotel, strapped a box of the Easter treat on to his motorbike and made distributions to 20 people.

He obviously had sound knowledge of the locations of his beneficiaries as he looked for them behind walls, near garbage dumpsters, in abandoned buildings, and along the roadways.

"From I was small, I always want to do something for the people who live on the streets, and I put aside a little of my earnings to do this. I gave them boxed food and drinks in Christmas and now at Easter, and I want to make it an ongoing thing where I can feed them because I feel good doing it," Miller told Western Focus.

"I want to thank Brooks Bakery for giving me a little help with the buns."

He is also planning a fund-raising event where he can better fund the project as he is finding it challenging to finance the venture independently.
