YOUTH FOCUS - David Christie in overdrive

Nineteen-year-old David Christie is passionate about the business of transportation and oversees the operations of Christophe's Limousine Service that is based in Montego Bay, St James.

The young entreprenuer is a sixth-form student at Cornwall College. He is majoring in science.

"It can be difficult at times to balance my school responsiblities and being the CEO of this limousine service company. But I have been entrusted with this task, so I am stepping up to the challenge to do my best to make the company move forward," Christie explained.

He has not limited himself to one profession, however, and also has his sights set on becoming a pilot - a dream he has had since he was a child.

"In the world that we live in, there is no reason we cannot have two professions, and I have always wanted to be a pilot. So I will definitely be looking into courses that I can pursue in achieving that dream, even while I am at Christophe's Limousine Service," Christie pointed out.

"If we limit ourselves, then it is just the same as accepting the limitations others have of you. I want to be an inspiration to youths like myself and show them that the difference begins with you."

As he makes strides in his business, Christie says that it will not be at the cost of his education. "Education is priceless," he says. He is intent on finishing sixth form with high marks and moving on to university.

If there is anything he has learnt from being the head of a company is that time management, hard work, dedication, and most important, loyalty to himself and his staff, can go a far way in achieving company and individual success.

"Business is good with time management, wonderful staff, and the determination and confidence I have. I am reaping the rewards. Life's exciting!" a smiling David said.

He has also penned a book: My Life's Exciting as an Entrepreneur and Student. It isset to be released this month.

In his book, he reveals the story behind his success and how other youth can achieve the same.

"My message to youths would be to put God first and remember, in order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than failure. Work hard, widen your playing field, and live above expectations," he concluded.
