WESTERN BUREAU:

I Make It Good is one of the latest clothing lines to enter Jamaica's fashion industry. Business partners Mike Smith and McWinni Guy are confident of making their product a household name.

The firm operates as Individual-U Sports and Casual Wear in the United States (US), and is registered as Individual-U Jamaica Limited here. It sells apparel for men and women.

" At present, our hottest items are the I Make It Good basketball issue for men and the sexy silhouette for females. The response has been very encouraging," Guy said.

The clothes range from $1,500 to $4,000 for premium wear. A local launch is set for July 28 at the Roof Top in Negril, Westmoreland.

"We have hired a fashion designer from the US, who has designed 30-plus (pieces of) fashionwear geared towards all the major local calendar events," Guy added.

Guy and Smith were at the 2012 staging of the Little Ochie Seafood Carnival where their models showed off several pieces.

A special line of clothing will be available for the Jamaica 50 celebrations, and discussions are advanced with promoters of the Smirnoff Dream Weekend and Appleton Temptation Isle in Negril from August 1 to 6.

"Colour is very essential for us, so we get on top of which colour is being promoted for the fashion season and stay on top of it," added Guy, who has a background in business and psychology.

"Our unique concept is what we use to align ourselves in a com-petitive world. Our niche is for each individual to own their craft. It's not only the clothes they are wearing; it has more to do with the brand."
