Elephant Group sets up offices in MoBay

The Elephant Group Jamaica will officially open for business at the Montego Bay Free Zone with 100 employees on February 1, but says it plans to grow the operation to over 500 employees within the first six months.
Elephant Group is a privately held company founded in 1997 by president and CEO Benny Aboud and headquartered in Florida.
The Jamaican division will offer tech support sales, as well as sell products and services for US-based TV, Internet and phone service providers from various providers like AT&T, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, among others, Reid Shapiro, chief development officer for the Elephant Group, said on Tuesday.
Reid declined to disclose the investment being made in the Montego Bay hub. Elephant's only other satellite office and call centre is in New Jersey.
Its marketing service includes paid searches, search engine optimisation and lead generation, while its brands include a savings programme, Saveology, based on an e-commerce platform designed to offer consumers discounts on various products and services.
Shapiro said Tuesday that the company was courted by Jampro, the Government of Jamaica's investment promotions agency.
"We chose to set up operations in Jamaica because of the unbelievably warm welcome we have received from the Government and people of Jamaica. They have done an amazing job of making this process run smoothly. Both Gloria Henry of the Montego Bay Free Zone company and Conrad Robinson of Jampro have worked really hard to make this happen," he said.
"With our corporate headquarters only an hour and a half plane ride away in Florida, the trip to Jamaica is very easy for our employees to make."
