Smaller crowd, higher sales - Deals made at 6th Jamaica Motor Show

Despite not having as large a turnout as last year because of the country's economic climate, the sixth annual staging of the Jamaica Motor Show yielded more for sellers.
The car display and marketplace was held at the Police Officers' Club on Hope Road in St Andrew, on Saturday, January 19.
Attended by approximately 5,600 people, the show featured approximately 350 motor vehicles from used-car dealerships such as Crichton Automotive Ltd, Millennium Auto Sales, McKoy's Auto Imports, CarMax Jamaica and Payless Motors Limited among others. Among the brands on show were BMW, Tata (the Nano), Toyota, Kia, Honda, Mazda and Nissan. Accessories for motor vehicles were also on sale.
Ian Lyn, who organised the event through his company The Firm, has reported that financial institutions which participated were able to benefit significantly.
"Deposits have been taken by some banks, 37 deals were struck and 50 referrals or so have been confirmed so far. Less people turned out this year, but more deals had been struck with the six banks and the one credit union," Lyn said.
Lyn said the anticipated sound clash fell short, and the sound provided by Boom Energy Drink came out on top.
