Jamaica needs a true leader

THE EDITOR, Sir:

We need true renewal in our Government. Many of the individuals on both sides of Parliament share a great burden in bringing us to the current situation we now face.

As individuals, through our decision making and personal economics, must also share responsibility. However, Government must lead in policy and by personal example.

It is painfully disappointing that successive governments' communication tone is tinged with arrogance once fully settled into office, which becomes even more pronounced in times of national crisis. But as it often goes, we know the true nature of an individual when sacrifice is required.

I beg for a true leader to emerge one day in Jamaica, one who leads on the issues, talks with credibility, and rises to the occasion of challenges with heroic qualities. This may seem a sentimental utopian dream, but we need it at this time.

I sit with hope that some among our parliamentarians will now step up.
