Silent Church

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It was reported in the news that the 'Church' voiced objection to the comments made by two former presidents of the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) in reference to the minister of education. Of all the social ills facing Jamaica, do you want to tell me that it is only a safe issue like the Ministry of Education-JTA impasse that interests the Church?

I am not sure whose mistake it was to say that the Church had spoken when a representative of the Jamaica Council of Churches (JCC) commented. If the comment of the so-called Church came only because a representative of the JCC was asked for his opinion by a journalist, I would like the journalist to return to get the views of this 'Church' on the dastardly acts committed against our children and the elderly in recent days.
