Strategic vice-presidency
Frederick Williams, former vice-president, business analytics and strategy at Scotia Group Jamaica, was transferred on July 22, to Scotia Insurance Caribbean Limited in Barbados, where he assumes the position of chief financial and compliance officer.
Dr Adrian Stokes has moved into Williams' previous position. Stokes was group strategist for the Scotia Group, a role he took on in April 2012 after two years as vice-president of strategic planning, projects and product development for Scotia's wealth arm, Scotia Investments Jamaica Limited.
Domville departs
Carl Domville retired as chief operating officer at Seprod on July 31, 2013, a position he held for 14 years. Domville, a chartered accountant, previously worked as the manager of finance and administration at Motor Sales and Services for 11 years. Prior to that, he was a senior accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick, where he audited for a wide variety of companies.
No replacement has yet been made.
Job status update
Rohan DaCosta of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has recently updated his LinkedIn profile to announce his new role as director of data analysis and planning. He was previously a senior agricultural economist at the ministry for five years, up until October 2012.
IMF Jamaica replacement now official
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) officially announced the appointment of Bert van Selm on Monday as its new resident representative in Jamaica, a post he took up in Kingston at the end of July.
Van Selm has been with the IMF since 2000 and has worked on country teams in Europe, Africa and Asia, as well as in the IMF's Strategy, Policy and Review Department in Washington, DC.
He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. His book, The Economics of Soviet Break-Up, is based on his PhD thesis, which was awarded the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies prize for the best thesis in the field of comparative economics.
Before joining the IMF, van Selm, who is Dutch, lectured in international economics at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands and also worked at the Dutch Ministry of Finance.
He replaces Dr Gene Leon, who served as resident Jamaican representative for three years.
