Radiant red and white drapes cascaded down to the flowing rose-red carpet greeting the specially invited guests as Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) pulled out all the royal stops at their president's cocktail held in the Sunken Gardens at the Hope Botanical Gardens last Friday Night.

A sea of green followed the entrance, with red and white making waves until crashing along the shore of a branded banking which functioned as a seating area, dance floor and stage. The chic decor, seemingly one with nature, embodied the company's signature colours, standing out against the background of lush forestry.

The savoury aroma of lamb and shrimp pasta filled the air as guests lined up to tantalise their taste buds while others indulged in their choice of liquid libations, and the dessert station had them returning for more.

In his very short speech, president and chief executive officer of VMBS, Richard Powell, thanked all for accepting their invitation. He revealed that the company's 135th anniversary was the day before, so the evening was all about celebrating.

With formalities out of the way, it was time to make use of the dance floor. With the tempo of the music changing from hits of yesteryear to 'chipping' soca, many rocked to the pulsating beats. Romain Virgo, representing in the VMBS colours, later made his way to the stage and had women swooning as he serenaded them.
