The month-long activities to mark the 200th anniversary of the St Andrew's Scots Kirk concluded last Sunday with its Harvest Thanksgiving service.

All the events put on to celebrate the bicentennial of the Scots Kirk United Church, situated at 43a Duke Street in downtown Kingston, were well attended.

These included the anniversary service and brunch on Sunday, November 17 and the anniversary banquet on the night of Friday, November 15 at the Knutsford Court Hotel, New Kingston.

Six long-serving members of the church were honoured at the $5,000 a plate banquet, which attracted close to 250 persons.

The anniversary service, 'Celebrating 200 Years of Mission and Ministry' as its theme, was attended by a capacity crowd. It was conducted by resident pastor the Rev Dr Ralph Hoyte and the Rev L. Christopher Mason, chairman of the Council, who delivered the sermon on the theme 'Hope for the Future'.

Music was provided by the University Singers, while Digicel Rising Stars winner, Verlando Small entertained the many guests who attended the brunch on the lawns of the church.

The University Singers were well received in their glorious renditions of A Caribbean Alleluia, O Praise Ye the Lord and The Lord is My Shepherd.

The Custos of Kingston, the Hon Steadman Fuller also addressed the congregation, extending greetings on behalf of the City.
