Sorento for the songstress: Kia Motors Ja to provide Tessanne with prize vehicle

Songstress Tessanne Chin, who sang her way into the hearts of viewers worldwide to win season five of 'The Voice' television show last Tuesday, earned herself a brand new 2014 Kia Sorento SUV in the process.

The other two top-three competitors, Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee, also won their choice of a new Kia vehicle.

To help the finalists relax, they were treated to a tour of the Universal Studio lots close to where 'The Voice' is filmed. Each of the three finalists was awarded a vehicle courtesy of Kia Motors and Chin chose the 4WD after jokingly remarking that Jamaica had the worst roads.

Kia Motors Jamaica Limited will provide Tessanne Chin with the 2014 Kia Sorento, and the dealership is prepared to facilitate the process.

"We'll have good things in store for her. It will all depend, however, on when we meet with her and what she will have confirmed. When she meets with us, we'll discuss and negotiate a package. Kia normally facilitates each individual. At the end of the day, she will be an ambassador for us," said Renée Hanson, showroom manager of Kia Motors Jamaica Limited.

The Kia Sorento features dual climate control, reverse sensors, double panoramic sunroof, four-wheel disc braking, traction control, aluminium pedals and a 3.5-litre V6 engine. It has also been awarded the top safety pick award in the midsize SUV category for 2012 and 2013, top pick for fuel consumption in the SUV class and top rankings as the most affordable midsize SUV.

The fully loaded luxury vehicle which Chin will receive is valued at $6.6 million.

Chairman and president of Kia Motors Jamaica Limited, Dwight Moore, is elated at the prospect of having Tessanne Chin driving a new Kia Sorento.

"The greatest thing to know is that Tessanne won 'The Voice'. The Kia brand is a world beater and we're happy to know that she will be driving a Kia car. A lot of smart Jamaicans are driving Kia," Moore said.

While Moore is confident that Chin driving a Kia will boost the brand, he was quick to point out that Kia's local sales were increasing prior to presence in 'The Voice'.
