The first 5K Road Race on the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association's track and field calendar is just days away. Training Camp will host the third annual 5K Road Race and Walk at 7 a.m. on January 5, 2014. Patrons are encouraged to come out and lose the "Christmas pounds" to achieve wellness and a healthy lifestyle. It starts and ends in the Manor Park Plaza, Constant Spring.

Categories For The 5K

There are three main categories: Under-20, Over-20 and Over-40 male and female. The overall male and female winners will win tickets to North America on Delta Airlines.

For the first time, Training Camp will be introducing a 50 per cent discount on registration for coaches to encourage them to sign up for the 2014 5K Road Race. This new feature was added to give coaches an opportunity to walk for the exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Participants can go on the Training Camp Facebook page and answer questions for a chance to win prizes from Dolphin Cove, Mystic Mountain and other sponsors. One very lucky participant will be able to win an airline ticket courtesy of Caribbean Airlines.

Training Camp, in association with Q-Fit, will continue to host pre-training sessions on Saturday mornings at 6:30 a.m. until January 4, 2014 at Hope Gardens.

Net proceeds from the event will go to Constant Spring Primary and Junior High School, along with athletes and students who are in need of assistance.
