"Telecommunications provider Digicel has announced that a total of 2.6 million viewers, including 253,966 unique viewers tuned into the live stream of the Shaggy and Friends Concert on January 4."

Persons from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, several Caribbean territories, Europe, the Middle East, and even as far as South Africa logged on to the broadcast that featured a strong call to donate, the full line-up of exciting acts from the main stage, as well as interviews with artistes, sponsors, and other guests.

Shelly-Ann Harris, senior communications manager at Digicel, was heartened by the number of persons from around the world who tuned in.

"We know that it is through partnership that we achieved so many views," said Harris. "Teaming up with The Gleaner and Observer, in particular, was fantastic and we are grateful for their support, which led to the large numbers of persons watching."

The stream was also shared by several other online networks, including Digicel companies in seven other Caribbean markets and entities in the Tri-State Area. The Digicel live stream was managed and executed by Kariblink Digital, which has conducted many live streams for Digicel and other companies in Jamaica and across the world. Dave Lindsay, Kariblink's chief technical engineer, said they had anticipated the large viewership. He said with Tessanne Chin, the 2013 winner of The Voice being on the show, Kariblink Digital was well aware that the viewing audience would be global.

Furthermore, "the stability of Digicel's WiMax product and Kariblink Digital provided the perfect recipe for the live stream", said Lindsay.
