The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has encouraged the public to hasten their steps and be prepared for the cash-less-system which will be fully implemented on March 31.

Having distributed more than 69,000 Smarter Cards, JUTC's Marketing & Communications Manager Clinton Clarke said more than 13 new top-up points have been added. He said the implementation of the cash-less-system must be taken seriously.

"Well, JUTC has been working on the now cash-less-system for a while, and we hope to finalise at the end of March, and as most people know, we have been experiencing revenue leaks, so we have to improve our system to cut those leaks," said Clarke.

"This electronic system is really one of the best ways to go," he added.

Clarke said JUTC is also working on a more effective system for those who benefit from the concession-fare system.

"We hope to also put in place something for the students, the elderly and the disabled, so things can flow smoothly for those who travel on the bus," Clarke told The Gleaner.
