New managing director for Maersk Caribbean cluster

Maersk Line has appointed long-serving employee, Rodrigo Artavia, as its new managing director for the Caribbean Country Cluster comprising Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Panama, Surinam, Guyana, and the Caribbean islands.

Artavia joined the AP Moller - Maersk Group in 1999 in connection with the Sea Land acquisition where he previously worked for 13 years, holding several positions, the last two assignments being Country Top in Costa Rica and port director for Central America and the Caribbean.

Over the years, Artavia has worked in different roles such as Caribbean Sea Cluster customer service manager; sales manager for the CAM area; Country Top in Honduras; country sales manager in Mexico, Costa Rica and Nicaragua; and operations manager.

Since October 2009, Artavia worked as cluster sales director for the Caribbean Cluster.

He has a degree in business administration and a degree in industrial maintenance from Isvor University in Italy. He also completed a management-acceleration programme in INSEAD in 2008 and a management programme in INCAE in 2011.
