A multipurpose business and recreational centre for workers at the Montego Bay Free Zone will be launched on Friday, May 2.

With an investment of US$21,000 (J$2.3 million), Columbus Communications Jamaica Limited, operators of the Flow and Columbus Business Solutions brands, has forged a partnership with the free zone authorities to provide broadband connectivity and services at the new Montego Bay Engagement Centre. Columbus will cater to nearly 7,200 workers employed to 30 companies at the sprawling 44,000-square-foot free zone.

"We are delighted about this partnership which will enable the more than 7,000 Jamaicans who work within the Montego Bay Free Zone to access the recreational facilities and business services that will be available at the Engagement Centre," said Gail Abrahams, director of corporate communication for Columbus. "While at the centre, the workers will be able to use free Flow Unplugged Wi-Fi on their personal laptops, iPADs and other portable computing devices, watch more than 60 cable news and entertainment channels and stay abreast of news and other events within the 44,000-square-foot free zone via information updates facilitated by our digital signage solution."

The 630-square-foot centre will also enable workers to de-stress in a recreational room where dominoes and other board games can be played and where social events can also be staged.

The centre will also accommodate sports club meetings and one-on-one conversations with representatives of external service providers, such as banks and other financial institutions.
