Opposition party to get new leader

The opposition Peoples United Party in Belize is poised to get a new leader following the decision of former Prime Minister, Said Musa to step down.

Former party chairman, Francis Fonseca is the sole candidate for the post, following the withdrawal of his two opponents in protest against election procedures.

The election convention takes place at the end of the month.

Mr. Musa quit the leadership after his party suffered a heavy defeat in last month’s general election.
