Caribbean officials will be gathering in Trinidad and Tobago tomorrow to discuss the likely effects on Caribbean economies if the recession in the United States economy continues.

The round-table discussion under the theme “Global Imbalances and Caribbean Development” will bring together regional and international economic experts.

The Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) said the experts would also discuss the implications of the high commodity prices on economic growth and food security in Caribbean economies.

They will also examine the impact of a continuing fall in the value of the US dollar.

The conference is expected to outline possible solutions that could address the challenges posed by the changing economic environment and the recently negotiated Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
