Orlando Jamaican to appear in court

The Jamaican man who was held at the Orlando International Airport in Florida yesterday is to reappear in a US Federal court tomorrow.

Kevin Brown, 32, was held by federal agents just before boarding an Air Jamaica flight to Montego Bay.

He was detained and charged after he was allegedly found with components for pipe bombs and other explosive materials in his luggage.

He’s being held at the Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County.

The authorities also say that literature with instructions for handling explosives was found in his possession.

However no actual assembled explosives were reportedly found.

When Brown appeared in an Orlando Federal Court this morning the hearing was put off to tomorrow afternoon to allow prosecutors more time to further examine his mental records.

Yesterday Prime Minister Bruce Golding instructed the Police Commissioner to investigate the events which may have led to Brown’s planned visit to Jamaica.
