The police in Trinidad and Tobago said they have seized more than TT$2 million worth of compressed marijuana at a beach in the northern section of the island.

The police said they were acting on information that led them to the Las Cuevas beach, where they seized the drugs that was dropped off by Spanish speaking men.

According to the police, the men escaped because the Coast Guard vessel arrived late on the scene.

Prime Minister, Patrick Manning said the acquisition of six-off shore patrol vessels would make a significant dent in the illegal drugs trade.
