A plane that crashed five days ago in Chile was yesterday found in a forest in the south of the country, with all nine passengers alive.

Authorities said the pilot of the single-engine Cessna was the only person killed.

None of the survivors was seriously injured and four were taken to a nearby town for medical checks.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

Chilean Deputy Interior Minister, Felipe Harboe, said the pilot apparently manoeuvred the plane into the thickly wooded area to lessen the impact of the crash.

The plane disappeared on Saturday during a flight from Puerto Montt to La Junta, a village in the Aysen region.

Reports are that all the passengers were Chilean nationals.
