Motor company Honda has begun the first commercial production of a zero-emission, hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicle.

The four-seater, FCX Clarity runs on electricity produced by hydrogen, and emits water vapour.

Honda claims that the vehicle offers three times better fuel efficiency than a petrol-powered car and plans to produce 200 of the vehicles over the next three years.

The car, which is initially available only to lease, will become available in July this year.

Honda says US actress Jamie Lee Curtis will be among the first to have one of the vehicles.
