Grenada cricket team on strike

Members of Grenada’s national cricket squad preparing for the Stanford 20/20 in January have gone on strike.

The players refused to take the field for training after their return from a practice series in Trinidad and Tobago last week.

The players are unhappy that they are yet to receive monies owed to them from last year’s tournament.

The players also claim that they have been asked to forfeit the monies owed to them, about $1,000 EC dollars (US$377) per player.

Members of the squad are also asking the Grenada Cricket Association to issue them with contracts.

Grenada will open their campaign in the 2008 Stanford 20/20 series with a game against Anguilla on February 3.
