Barbados police investigate pre-election violence

Barbadian police investigate reports of election campaign violence. The Barbados Labour Party (BLP)appeal to supporters not to retaliate.



Campaign workers of the ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP), said they were attacked while campaigning in the constituency of Prime Minister Owen Arthur.



Mr. Arthur, who described the incident as unprecedented, appealed to party supporters not to retaliate.



The country will go to the polls on Tuesday 15 January 2008.
