Peace talks between Israel and Palestine are expected to begin today.

Yesterday, the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to authorize the peace talks.

The leaders said they would tell negotiating teams to conduct direct and ongoing negotiations, on all final status and core issues.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is slated to meet with former Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qorei today.

The meeting will be to discuss procedural issues regarding the negotiations.

The announcement regarding the negotiations came three days after the visit of President Bush to Israel and the Palestinian territories.
