Barbadians are scheduled to go to the polls today with the ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP), favoured to retain power.

A poll published yesterday in the Nation newspaper showed the BLP ahead of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP).

According to the poll, the ruling party is favoured to win 18 of the 30 seats at stake.

The poll predicts that the opposition DLP will win the remaining 12 seats.

Two other parties, the Peoples Empowerment Party (PEP) and People\'s Democratic Congress (PDC) are contesting a combined number of six seats.

Political observers said they are not likely to influence the outcome of the polls.
