Antigua police search for rapists

Police in Antigua and Barbuda are now searching for several rapists, who have left women in fear across the country.



According to Police Commissioner, Delano Christopher 34 rape cases have been reported between January 2006 and January 2007.



The police believed that there could be one or more persons involved in the spate of rape cases, which occur mainly at night and perpetrated against single women.



According to the police, the perpetrators left no evidence by taking away bed linen, clothing and condoms used in their attacks.



She said the assailants use guns and knives to subdue their victims.



Mr. Christopher said the police would be establishing a special team to counsel the victims, as well as to assist with the investigations.
