The candidate for the ruling Free National Movement (FNM) in the Bahamas, Byran Woodside has retained the Pinewood constituency even after a recount by the Election Court gave him a smaller majority.
The court action followed a challenge by the candidate for the main opposition Progressive Liberal Party\'s (PLP) Allyson Maynard-Gibson.
Gibson challenged Woodside\'s victory by 64 votes in the May 2, general election.
The results of the recount ordered by the Election Court on Monday night, showed that the margin of victory was reduced to 49 votes.
The results were adjusted after the Election Court excluded 110 ballots, after finding that the persons who cast them lived outside the southern New Providence constituency.
