St. Lucia in no rush to join CCJ

The Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Stephenson King announced his Government is in no rush to become a part of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).



The Trinidad and Tobago based court was established nearly two years ago to replace the Privy Council as the final court for the region.



While CARICOM countries have signed on to its original jurisdiction, only Barbados and Guyana have signed on fully to the CCJ.



The president of the CCJ, Michael de la Bastide has expressed hope that more countries will accept the appellate jurisdiction of the CCJ as the final court.
