Dominican health authorities have confirmed that employees at the island’s sole electricity company had been exposed to tuberculosis.

They had denied media reports of an outbreak of the disease earlier this week.

Today, the health authorities confirmed that they had received reports that at least 10 persons at the company were suffering from tuberculosis.

In a statement to the public the country’s Ministry of Health said that there had been only one confirmed case of the disease.

The Ministry said its officers have been conducting investigations at the home of the patient.
