Guyana has been earmarked as one of the central points capable of promoting renewable energy in the Caribbean.
A feasibility study as far back as 2002 identified the island as one with immense potential to supply the region with hydropower.
Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad-based Enman Group, Donald Baldeosingh said the project could meet the demand for large sustainable energy sources, which is high in the Caribbean.
The Enman group is projecting that the Hydropower project, has the potential to produce more than 11,000 megawatts of power with minimal environmental degradation.
He said the project would also promote economic development in Guyana and the Caribbean, since Guyana will become a net exporter of energy.
