Pope Benedict the sixteenth has refused to soften the Vatican\'s stance on the banning of condom use.

The Pope is now in Africa for his first visit to the continent as head of the Roman Catholic demonimation.

Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest rate of HIV and AIDS infection in the the world, according to the United Nations and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

But despite this, there has been a ranging debate between advocates for condom use and opposers.

The advocates are insisting that comdom use would help stop the spread of the epidemic in Africa.

However, the opposers including the pope say condom use is against traditional Catholic teaching on artificial contraception which is a clear moral prohibition.
