Turks and Caicos premier resigns

The premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands has resigned following an investigation that found \"clear signs\" of corruption in the territory\'s government.

Michael Misick\'s announcement comes a week earlier than expected.

Misick had previously said he would step down because he has lost the public\'s support.

A British inquiry has been investigating claims that members of his party misused public money and profited from the sale of government-owned land.

Britain said it would dissolve the Cabinet and legislature of the territory southeast of the Bahamas and that control would be transferred to Governor Gordon Wetherell.
