A task force has been formed in Dominica to address problems associated with the country’s banana industry.

Local and regional banana organisations along with the government in Dominica say they are disturbed by the prevailing situation in the country’s banana industry.

In a joint statement, they acknowledged that recent changes in the sale and purchase arrangements for Dominica\'s bananas at the local level have added to the difficulties of the industry.

The task force comprises the National Fair Trade Organisation, the Dominican Banana Producers, exporter WIBDECO and farmers’ organisation, WINFA.
