Two American university students, who were reported missing while vacationing in Trinidad, have been found at a hotel on the island.

The Brown Daily Herald reported today that Kimberly Hays and Sophia Roy, who had been missing after failing to return from a spring break trip to Trinidad are safe.

The publication quoted Steven Hays, Kimberly\'s father, as saying that the students were all right and that one of them may have been drugged.

Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, had earlier sent an email to all students in which it said that the two undergraduate students had not returned from a trip to the Caribbean island as expected on Monday.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US State Department were both investigating the students\' disappearance.

Warnings have been put up on The State Department website about the need for travellers to be on guard in light of violent crime in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
