Prosecutors seek video

Prosecutors in Grenada said they are trying to obtain a videotape to use as evidence in their corruption case against former Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell.

Dr Mitchell has repeatedly dismissed allegations that he took one million US dollars in kickbacks in 2000 from former Grenadian ambassador Erik Resteiner.

Prosecutors said they traveled to Boston to watch a video of Dr Mitchell allegedly accepting a payment from former ambassador Resteiner.

But the Ministry of Legal Affairs has said it needs the cooperation of Mr Resteiner to obtain the video as evidence.

Erik Resteiner is currently serving a seven year sentence at a federal prison in Rhode Island.
