Trinidadian manufacturers call for stimulus package

The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association is urging the Patrick Manning government to develop a stimulus package for the sector.

The association’s vice president Greg Laughlin says this boost is necessary as the sector is grappling with declines in sales.

Mr. Laughlin says this intervention would allow manufacturers to expand their operations.

According to him, they would also benefit from a reduction in interest rates.

He says the government should not see this as a handout but as an investment into generating economic activity.
