Antiguan court to hear opposition applications

An Antiguan court is to hear applications from the Opposition for a review of the election results in six constituencies in last month’s general election.

The Antigua Labour Party (ALP) is claiming that the voting process was manipulated to secure a win by the ruling United Progressive Party.

High Court judge Justice Louise Blenman ordered that the applications should be filed and served by April 15, while the affidavits should be submitted by April 22.

Justice Blenman outlined that the applications will be heard and tried in two separate groups since they were brought to the courts at difference times.

The hearing will be run from May 5 to 6, followed by the trials from June 2 to 19.
