Arbitration for Liat and pilots

The Management of Caribbean Airline, LIAT, and unions representing pilots are to go to arbitration to settle an outstanding wage dispute.

The pilots are demanding at least a 30 percent wage increase, which they say would be comparable with their colleagues in the region.

However the company says this demand is unreasonable and that it’s only prepared to offer a two percent pay hike.

Spokesman for the pilots Captain Michael Blackburn says he is urging the management to comply with the law and have the matter resolved shortly.

He says failure to do this may cause LIAT pilots to resort to protest action.
