A delegation from the US Congress has promised to help increase efforts in Washington to get much needed aid to Haiti.

This follows a meeting between members from the Black Caucus of the Congress and top Haitian officials including President Rene Preval and Prime Minister Michele Pierre-Louis.

The group was brought up to date with the economic, social and political situation in Haiti during the visit.

Democrat Congresswoman Donna Christensen, who was a part of the trip to Port-au-Prince, says despite its own problems the United States can help Haiti with its infrastructure and agriculture development plans.
