More than 30 donor countries and international organisations are now meeting in Washington to discuss ways to help Haiti deal with its social and economic problems.

Four major tropical storms, coupled with a hike in food and fuel prices, compounded the country\'s problems last year.

UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, says the reforms needed for the country to realise its economic potential must be implemented urgently.

The conference, sponsored by the Inter American Development Bank, will examine a two-year economic recovery plan, developed by the Haitian government.
