A Jamaican professor based in Canada wants to see investments in CARICOM states focus more on projects which more positively impact the economy.

Professor Karl Bennett of the University of Waterloo in Ontario said CARICOM nations, with the exception of Belize and Trinidad and Tobago, have experienced low rates of economic growth over the past decade.

He said he is disappointed that there is a shortage of viable productive projects in the region, a factor he believes accounts for the poor economic performance.
