Caribbean tourism campaign planned

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) said it is planning a campaign to highlight the importance of tourism to island economies.
The CHTA has in the past accused CARICOM governments of not giving tourism the importance it deserves.
The Association said executives will be putting together a proposed plan of action to include both advertising in local Caribbean newspapers, as well as a public relations campaign.
This plan of action will be reviewed and discussed at a meeting in Miami next month.
Last year CARICOM leaders agreed that the tourism industry should form part of the agenda of their annual summits, starting this year, in July.
