Puerto Rico has reported its first confirmed case of the H1N1 Influenza A virus.

The virus was discovered in a 39 year old man who returned from a week-long eastern Caribbean cruise.

Officials say they’re also conducting checks of persons with whom the man had been in contact following his return.

They say the country is enhancing its surveillance of the virus to prevent it from spreading.

Meanwhile, Cuba is the only other country in the region to have reported confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus.
