Bolivia declares national disaster

The President of Bolivia, Evo Morales has declared the floods a national disaster.



The flooding has been caused by weeks of heavy storm rains.



60 people have been killed so far, with the majority in northeastern Bolivia.



The heavy rains, which began last November has left more than 43,000 people homeless while five others have been reported missing.



Many families have been evacuated from the hills around the capital city of Trinidad in the El Beni region, where they had taken refuge.
