CSA installs new general council

The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) installed a new general council on October 17, the third and final day of the 42nd annual general meeting (AGM) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The CSA's AGM, conference and exhibition was held at La Concha Resort with over 300 participants from the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe attending.

The general council for 2012-2013 comprises newly elected president and vice-president, Grantley Stephenson - Jamaica and David Jean Marie - Barbados, respectively; and immediate past president, Carlos Urriola - Panama.

Members of the CSA's sub-committees are: Group A: Ship Agents and Private Stevedores - Roger Hinds, chairman (Jamaica); Hernan Ayala-Rubio (Puerto Rico); Marc Sampson (Barbados); Kim Clarke (Jamaica); Group B: Ports and Terminal Operators - Ashley Taylor, chairman (Trinidad and Tobago); Juan Carlos Croston (Panama); Group C: Ship Owners and Operators - Roland Malins-Smith (Seafreight Agencies Ltd); Stephen Bell (Seaboard Marine Ltd); and Group D: Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers - John Abisch - chairman. They complete the council members.

The five new representatives on the 12-person council are Ayala, Sampson, Clarke, Taylor and Croston.

The CSA's General Council will hold its first formal meeting at the association's headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica, in January 2013.
